
"This artwork reflects how being a teen in Manukau is fun and full of excitement. This is shown through the symbols of well-known places in Manukau on this artwork. The Telstra Clear Pacific Event Centre (top-left corner) represents the richness of Manukau’s cultural events and performances, teens are able to enjoy the performances or being the performer. Rainbow’s End is represented by the Fear-fall Tower, it is a place where teens can explore and have their own adventure. This shows Manukau is an exciting place to be. The botanical garden is represented by the Metal-Birds (bottom-left) brings out the idea that Manukau is not a city with just buildings and vehicles. The birds symbolise the nature, freedom, natural side of being a teen in Manukau.
The teenage girl on the bottom-right corner is thinking of enjoyable places where teens can have fun and learn, this points out that Manukau is a youth friendly city. The colours used in this artwork is to present a positive and real impression. The circles are coloured in blue which represents peace and freedom. The Fear-fall Tower is rainbow coloured which represents liveliness and excitement. The clack/silver coloured Telstra Clear Centre represents modern and futuristic. The Metal-birds in black and grey shades represent strong and determination. This combination of all the meanings brings out the positive side of Manukau."
