"I decided to draw the Rainbow’s End rollercoaster, the Fearfall, and also the Telstra Clear stadium as representatives of Manukau. I also drew buildings in the background – like a city, for Manukau City. I drew five teens in different colours to show how they feel – purple could be lively, blue – calm, orange – confident?, yellow – happy, green – lively. I tried to draw them so they were all doing completely different things and in that, they would be expressing themselves. Because what you do shapes who you are.
I drew a Harry Potter-like character to represent books – Manukau Libraries. Being a teen is about having fun, enjoying yourself, being free, doing whatever you want. I tried to show all of those aspects in the picture."
