Twext Tales: Tale 22.

i walk out the door; the three glasses of wine for breakfast doing the job. even through my aviators, the sun seems extra bright today

make my way to the atm. benefit has cleared, i’m happy. rent has gone out, don’t forget the power bill tomorrow

$86.49 to see the week out – and that’s before booze for the week. how the hell will i make it last? you might be surprised

got a tip on an outsider running in the fourth at te rapa this afternoon, can’t go wrong. drop ten each way on it, that’ll boost the purse

the bus terminal is busy, my bus is running late - i can’t miss this race! no, here it comes. i should make it in time, and i do

why do they insist on a gate charge? they take enough money from me as it it. oh well. straight to the betting counter

up to the stands. i’m always surprised at the size of this place - an impressive track, i gotta say. horses are at the gates now

god i need a drink. my horse broke at the first bend, i’m in trouble now. stay and try to make it up in the next race? no

winz appointment tomorrow, try for a food grant - better stay sober for that one. time to hit the olds up for another loan, i guess

ah, the life. i would have used a capital here or there, but you see, i don’t have any to spare
