Manukau residents have an opportunity to give both their body and brain a workout later this month at Manukau Libraries’ Exercise Your Body, Exercise Your Mind event.
Part of a month-long Pasefika celebration, this unique event combines the latest get fit craze Zumba with promotional displays of resources and books from Manukau Libraries.
Pasefika leaders, including one half of the popular Laughing Samoans, Tofiga Fepulea’i, will lead the exercise class which promises to be lots of fun for the whole family.
Organiser Paulo Va’a, libraries’ Outreach Coordinator Community Cultures, says they are always looking for innovative ideas to promote library resources.
“We’re hoping that Tofiga will draw a big crowd so that we can show them some of the awesome, free things available from Manukau Libraries, especially our Pasefika collection.
“We want to encourage the Pacific community, especially our young people, to visit the library. We’re hoping that events like this will help get them through the library door.”
Exercise Your Body, Exercise Your Mind is at Ferguson Oaks Reserve, Dawson Road, Otara on Saturday, 27 March, 10:30am till 12pm.
Manukau residents who bring along a proof of address and photo ID can join the library on the day and have their free Manukau Libraries card presented by Tofiga himself. Anyone under 18 will need to bring a parent or guardian with them.
