Manukau’s littlest citizens have a new play date for their diaries with the return of Wriggle & Rhyme sessions to all Manukau Libraries, starting Monday 8 February.
The 30 minute weekly sessions, aimed at children from birth to two years, guide parents through different movement activities that they can then use at home.
The libraries’ Learning and Literacy Coordinator Jolene West speaks of the benefits of Wriggle & Rhyme:
“The sessions provide positive movement experiences for children under five to stimulate the development of the brain and body.
“Movement is one of the first ways children communicate. Programmes like Wriggle & Rhyme build a great foundation for children’s early learning.”
Wriggle & Rhyme is a joint programme with libraries, Sport and Recreation NZ (SPARC) and Counties Manukau Sport.
There is no need to book, just turn up on the day.
