About the book
The author goes back to school in Little Rock, Arkansas, to learn to drive an eighteen-wheel semi on the wrong side of the road. On his first solo he travels 800 miles through Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio to a factory near Toledo. Then he delivers a load of new Honda bikes to Florida and a load of chemicals to Pennsylvania - and into a dead-end country lane with nowhere to turn. As the adventure continues his truck (Old Bluey) takes him along scenic highways and back-roads to some of America's most fascinating place-names and locations where legends were born. But a journey from Iowa to Arizona is halted abruptly when Old Bluey dies in the desert.
Highway America is a must-read travel adventure and useful guide for anyone interested in travel, a motorised tour of America or a challenging working holiday.
