Auckland Provincial Council.

For the period 1863 to 1875 New Zealand had a number of provincial Governments based in the main centres, responsible for local affairs and administration in their various regions.

The Auckland Provincial Council was responsible for an area covering most of the northern half of the North Island.

Like the central Government, the provincial Governments published legislation, Journals and Gazettes (or official newspapers). These include items of great interest to local historians today.
