He is...
He is the light of my life,
he makes my day,
so when he doesn't call
I reach for cheer-up pills
And wait for tomorrow.

Alabaster thoughts
If, today Christ returned
and came to Pakuranga,
would he cross the highway
on a safety crossing
or would He step out,
raise his hand to the storm of speed,
Saying, "Peace, be still"?
Would He ride a donkey
to a burger bar,
or to Maraetai Beach
to catch fresh fish -
then cook and share it on the shore?
Would He drift into a mission
for an evening bowl of soup,
finding there disciples
two or three or more?
In inner city streets
might there be a woman
with an alabaster box
who'd was his feet with tears.
while others had not offered water?
Would observers scorn His gratitude,
deride His absolution of her sins?
And might he, one day,
when strolling in our neat suburban street
find me Martha?
Would water turn to wine?

Today
Listen!
The frilled edge of the tide
is whispering to the shore at Algies Bay.
And, can you hear the distant happy sound
of clogs in Veenendaal
where childhood memories live,
forever,
among tulips.
While in this sacred place,
two precious people make their vows -
the spoken and the secret,
sealed by gold rings,
shining,
and without end.
At this time of promises
hold each other closely -
the Bonding
the Blessing
and the Dreaming.
Dear Niels and Amy,
your beautiful love -
Take it tenderly
in your young hands.
Protect and cherish it,
the rich and rare gift,
your treasure for life.
But today, today,
dance!
dance!
Dance to the music
of a million stars!
