Manukau Libraries contains a variety of services and resources.

The main resource areas found in most of our libraries are:

  • Adult non-fiction: non-fiction suitable for adults
  • Children: fiction and non-fiction suitable for children
  • Fiction: fiction suitable for adults. This is divided into genres - adventure, crime, historical romance, romance, science fiction, terror and westerns
  • Magazines: a selection of popular magazines
  • Newspapers: a selection of local newspapers
  • Reference: items that can be used in the library only eg encyclopedias
  • Service desks: a desk where you can get items out, return items and also ask for help.
  • Self-issue machines: machines where you can issue your own items
  • Teen or young adult: fiction and non-fiction suitable for teenagers.

 

Some of our libraries may also have separate areas for:

  • Māori collection: fiction and non-fiction in the Māori language or about Māori subjects
  • Pacific Islands collection: fiction and non-fiction in Pacific Island languages or about Pacific Island subjects
  • Chinese collection: fiction and non-fiction in the Chinese language
  • Large print collection: fiction and non-fiction suitable for visually impaired readers
  • ESOL: (English for speakers of other languages) fiction and non-fiction suitable for beginning readers of English, both adults and children
  • Other language collections: Visit the community language collections pages to see what other collections are available in our libraries.
