Manukau Libraries contains a variety of services and resources.
The main resource areas found in most of our libraries are:
- Adult non-fiction: non-fiction suitable for adults
- Children: fiction and non-fiction suitable for children
- Fiction: fiction suitable for adults. This is divided into genres - adventure, crime, historical romance, romance, science fiction, terror and westerns
- Magazines: a selection of popular magazines
- Newspapers: a selection of local newspapers
- Reference: items that can be used in the library only eg encyclopedias
- Service desks: a desk where you can get items out, return items and also ask for help.
- Self-issue machines: machines where you can issue your own items
- Teen or young adult: fiction and non-fiction suitable for teenagers.
Some of our libraries may also have separate areas for:
- Māori collection: fiction and non-fiction in the Māori language or about Māori subjects
- Pacific Islands collection: fiction and non-fiction in Pacific Island languages or about Pacific Island subjects
- Chinese collection: fiction and non-fiction in the Chinese language
- Large print collection: fiction and non-fiction suitable for visually impaired readers
- ESOL: (English for speakers of other languages) fiction and non-fiction suitable for beginning readers of English, both adults and children
