School and pre-school library cards.

Join up for a School/Pre-school library card

School/Preschool library cards are available from your local Manukau Library.  All you have to do to obtain a card is:

  • Produce a letter of authority, written on school letterhead and signed by the principal/owner. See an example of the letter required: Sample letter (PDF, 16K); Sample letter (Word document, 24K).
  • A contact person must be nominated in the authority letter and this person must arrange the registration.
  • Your school/preschool library card is valid until 31 December of the year you apply.  Membership can be extended by supplying a fresh authority letter from the principal/owner at the beginning of each year. 
  • The card is intended for school use only and the school is responsible for any lost or damaged charges and overdue charges.  The principal/owner takes full responsibility for any and all items and charges on the school card.  A new letter of authority is required when:
      • The contact person or nominated user of the card charges or
      • The registration is to be extended for a further year.
  • Only one card is to be issued per school and the card is held at the library of registration.
