Our Children’s Librarians are able to help find resources to assist parents, teachers and primary school children in a variety of ways, whether it’s book selection, story times, book club or reading programmes.

If you need assistance on a particular topic contact your local library and speak to a Children’s Librarian.  The children’s and youth staff can host early childhood and school groups or even arrange for a time to visit you.  We also have a dedicated youth library, called Tupu, which is located in Dawson Road, Otara.

Databases

The library has lots of great, easy to use online resources and databases. These are free to use if you have a library card. All you need is to create a login.

  • Britannica Junior
    Find information quickly by searching this encyclopaedia. It will also find you the best magazine articles, web sites, images and videos.
  • World Book for Kids
    This encyclopaedia has lots of interesting information and includes fun activities for you to make and do, a dictionary, lots of maps, pictures and sounds.
  • Lands and People
    Need to know all about different cultures, people and countries? This database has all the answers.
  • The New Book of Knowledge
    Need information in a hurry? This database helps you find the right answer quickly to all your homework questions.
  • Gale Books & Authors
    Stuck trying to find something new to read? Use this database and you’ll never run short of books to read.
