Children’s librarians
Our children’s librarians can show you how best to use our collections to help you with your homework. Each branch has a children’s and youth librarian, so contact your local library and ask about our services.
We can teach you how to:
- Use our electronic resources
- Effectively use an encyclopedia
- Use the children's subject index
- Search the catalogue to quickly find books
- Get the most out of the children’s non-fiction section
- Find answers without getting stressed.

It’s not a ‘quick answers service’ - instead their group of online librarians are trained to help you work out the sort of information you need, then begin searching with you.
Librarians from all over New Zealand are available each week day between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm to help you search online. To use
AnyQuestions.co.nz or
UiaNgaPatai.co.nz you have to be attending a New Zealand primary, intermediate, secondary school or be home schooled.
