The Saturday Book Club meets January - November 2012, at the Botany Library.
Meeting dates for this year are:
28 January - A catch up on our holiday reading. Also a discussion about what we might like to do as our first group read in April.
25 February - Comedy Month: Bring along a comedic book you have read to tell the group about.
24 March - Autobiography: Please read a biography or autobiography about anyone you choose, it could be a famous politician, sports person or even an ordinary person who has done something extraordinary.
28 April - Group read: This will be the first of the books we all read together to discuss at this meeting.
26 May - Graphic Novel Month: We will compile a list of Graphic Novels that we think you may enjoy. Chris Grosz will be leading a Graphic Novel Workshop at Botany on Saturday, 12 May between 2 – 4pm. Please let us know if you would like to attend as seating will be limited.
23 June - Prize winning fiction: Please choose a book from the Pulitzer Prize list.
28 July - New Zealand Fiction month.
25 August - Travel Writing: This falls at the time of year when winter seems like it will never end, so it might be nice to have some escapism and talk about a piece of travel writing we have read and enjoyed recently.
22 September - Second group read.
27 October - Short Stories.
24 November - Food, Wine and Cooking- As Christmas won’t be far away and food is never far from our thoughts, this seems like the perfect time to talk about some food related books.
