What is interloan?
Interloan is a co-operative arrangement, which enables libraries to obtain books, periodical articles and other information materials from one another.
Most major libraries in New Zealand are members of interloan. This includes the:
- National Library
- Large city libraries
- Polytechnic libraries
- Libraries of a number of Government departments and private firms.

- Published Government reports
- New Zealand and overseas standards

In some circumstances, videos and CDs may also be available.

How do I get an item urgently?
If you need an item urgently, please specify the date it is needed by on the request form, and speak to a librarian personally. We will make every effort to supply the item within the time specified.
Please note: If you need an item within one to three days most libraries may charge us $20 or more for supplying urgent interloans by fax or courier, and this additional charge will be passed on to you.

Can I interloan items from overseas?
Items which are not available in New Zealand, can sometimes be interloaned from overseas.
Charges vary from item to item and country to country. Examples of charges are available on request. Before an overseas interloan is undertaken you must agree to these charges.
Overseas interloans will take considerably longer to arrive than New Zealand interloans and the time taken is not within the power of Manukau Libraries to influence or guarantee unless an urgent delivery method is chosen.
