Look after your card

You are responsible for your card and any items borrowed on it.

Please ensure you:

  • Notify the library if your card is lost or stolen 
  • Notify the library of any change of address, phone number or email 
  • Pay overdue charges for items returned after the due date 
  • Pay replacement costs for lost or damaged items 
  • Return borrowed items in good condition.

NB: Adults are responsible for the cards of children and young adults under 18.

When you sign the borrower registration form you are agreeing to abide by all library policies under the Manukau City Consolidated Bylaw 1992.

This is a summary of the bylaw concerning libraries.

Definitions

Borrower is a person who has been granted the privilege of borrowing from the library.

Collection means the libraries' collection of books, pamphlets, periodicals, manuscripts, paintings, drawings, prints, maps, music scores, photographs, files, school records, audio and video tapes or discs, computer discs and software.

Council means The Manukau City Council.

Borrowing

  • You may not remove any item from the collection unless you are a borrower.
  • You may remove items from the collection only by presenting your borrower's card.
  • You may not use anyone else's borrower's card.
  • You may not remove any item which is marked as reference only.
  • If any item you borrow is lost or returned in a damaged condition, you will be required to pay the cost of replacing that item or to pay compensation for the damage or loss.
  • If you return an item after the date it was due, you will be required to pay an overdue charge.
  • If you fail to pay any money owing for overdue items, renewal fees, hire fees, other charges etc you will not be able to borrow items from the collection until you have paid the amount you owe.
  • Council may from time to time fix subscriptions, fees and charges for library services.
